The holiday season has officially arrived. School is out, Christmas gifts are all wrapped under the tree, tree ornaments are being made and the sugar cookies are being (quickly) eaten! This year looks very different than most, but that doesn't need to be all bad. We have so many amazing Christmas traditions we know and love that we can recreate in different ways. Enjoying amazing food, making new memories and did I mention food? The holidays for us has always been filled with meal and snack traditions - sugar cookies, peanut butter balls, gingerbread cookies, charcuterie boards for dinner and waffles for brunch! All of the things we are still planning on enjoying this year require a lot of time and space in our fridge and freezer!
My little guy has a huge passion for baking in the kitchen which we now do almost weekly. From cookies to bread (the amazing recipe I will link here) to biscuits this kid is my best little baking partner and we have spent so much time creating these recipes for the holidays! One item that somehow disappears the quickest out of this house is our delicious sugar cookies which I will list the recipe for below!
Mama’s Sugar Cookies
1 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 egg yolks slightly beaten
6 tablespoons milk
1 tsp vanilla
3 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
Directions:
Mix butter and sugar, then add egg yolk, milk and vanilla. Slowly sift in dry ingredients. Roll out approximately 1/4 inches thick.
Bake at 375 degrees for 5-8 minutes.
This year we have stocked up on all things for activities for the kiddos. We will be spending a lot more time in and around the house and luckily we have the room with our beautiful Samsung fridge! This appliance has not only changed the entire look of our kitchen but completely upgraded our living and cooking experience in this space. The kids are still obsessed with getting all their own ice and water (I am not complaining about that one little bit), as well as having easy access to their own snacks in the flex drawer! Our fridge has been so easy to maintain organization with all of the space and different compartment options. It gives us so many options for different sizes of containers that we need to fit when baking for this time of year. Did I mention it has the perfect spot to hold your holiday beverages?
The kitchen is where our family gathers, converses, create memories and spend most of our time. Needless to say, this space has to function seamlessly and create a warm and welcoming environment. We have not always had the best appliances which have leaked and broken. Leaving us changing trips out of town and having to get people to check on our home daily to make sure we didn’t have a puddle on our floor! Being able to enjoy and trust your appliances makes all the difference in the world and I could not recommend this 4-Door, French Door with Twin Cooling Plus more. Have I also mentioned it has a smudge-proof finish? Would get this fridge just for this feature with the kids I have!
This year we are spending the holidays wrapped around the kitchen island and table eating, playing games and filling our home with laughter and memories. One of our favourite family meals recently is making a giant charcuterie board and letting the fam grab and take their favourite pieces as they please! This means this fridge has to hold all of our favourite items which include:
Prosciutto
Salami
Chorizo
Boursin cheese
Brie
Blueberries
Grapes
Dark chocolate
Crackers
Salted almonds
The list just goes on and we love changing up the items and also love how we can fit our entire board with dinner for the family inside this counter depth fridge!
